Sue Thomas       African Inspiration using WAX
This all day workshop will give the opportunity to explore using wax with silk to achieve a variety of effects, textures and designs. We will use brushes, tjantings and a variety of tools to apply the Wax to the Silk.
Stunningly colourful Steam Fix Dyes will be used.

AFRICA will be the spring board for our inspiration.
This will provide an excellent introduction to using wax, for those who have never ventured into this medium. For the more experienced painters, the day will also provide the opportunity to develop and extend techniques and ways of designing.
We will explore designs, colours, patterns, textures and inspirations from this vast and varied country. Using steam fix dyes on silk, exploring the possibilities of creating patterns and designs that reflect aspects of Africa, we will work on 18” Frames, hopefully being able to complete a number of designs.
We will be able to steam, at least some of our work during the day, so that we can evaluate and admire our days achievement and the varied and inspirational individual pieces of work.
